Riley was given a leukemia diagnosis when she was 6 years old. Riley spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital for chemotherapy treatments, overnight stays, clinic visits, ER visits, and lab work. She lost so much of her childhood to this illness. Her two younger brothers found it extremely difficult to comprehend what was happening and why we weren't spending as much time at home together as a family anymore.
When we were put in touch with our local branch of the Make-A-Wish foundation, Riley immediately knew she wanted to visit Give Kids the World Village. Having this wish granted allowed our family to finally have time to be a family without worrying about anything else. We could focus on the memories we were making with Riley and her brothers. Our trip to the Village was life changing for Riley. It gave her back part of her childhood - the FUN! - and she enjoyed this week more than anything else. We are forever indebted to the staff and volunteers at Give Kids the World Village for everything they did during our stay. Thank you!!!”
